Intensity question

Does BlackMagic plans to produce a classic-PCI intensity board?
Best regards

That’s an interesting question and I don’t think we have plans for that. We’ll consider anything if there is enough demand but yours is the first question I have heard regarding a PCI version of Intensity. At the very least, I would expect that PCI-X would be required to cope with the uncompressed HD signal and I don’t think PCI (33 or 66 MHz) would ever be an option for the card.
PCI Express is lower cost compared with PCI-X and so that is one of the reasons we have been able to make Intensity at an attractive price and is also the reason why all the newer Macs and PC’s have PCI Express slots.

Thanks for the reply. Also i realize that the old pci (even in 66 mhz) has a very short bandwith for 1:1 hd resolution…
Next time i will think a little more before asking! 😉
Best regards
Oscar
