I’m a bit of an AV greenhorn trying to upgrade to high definition capture to make better videos from my Xbox 360 games. I have purchased and installed an Intensity Pro card on my Vista Ultimate system, but have been unable to view any video thus far. I have tried every combination of settings in the Intensity control panel and cycled through every available output format (HD and SD) from the 360. I have tried both HDMI and component connections using an HDMI splitter and a component 1:2 distribution amplifier respectively, and the only image I receive is a horizontal scramble from the component input.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks

    Hello,

It sounds like the wrong frequency is being output from the X-Box 360 and an not be read properly by the Blackmagic card. Or the security setting somewhere on the games machine which is blocking the signal being output.

    Thanks,

    Leo

I have no problem capture 360 footage on my intensity pro via component input. 720p/1080i works great. My system is XP pro SP2

Minime: how are you converting it from component to HDMI? Or are you even doing that? I don’t have the blackmagic intensity Pro just the basic with 2 HDMI’s but I was planning to convert from Component to DVI to HDMI. Any insight would be helpful. Maybe I need the Pro card to accomplish what I am trying to do. Thanks.

Well it turns out my problem was user error.. I had no idea there was an Intensity control panel to adjust the input/output settings. :S
I can now get a signal from my 360 and record just fine in SD, but I have just put together a RAID 0 so I can capture in HD. My problem now seems to lie with the control panel settings themselves. When I set the input processing to “off” to be able to capture in HD, I get no signal. I’m not running Windows on the array, but I didn’t think that would affect the viewing of the source video – I have the settings targeting my striped array for recording. Any advice?

Problem solved. My HD input/output settings were mismatched… learning is fun! ;p
