I am building a new Mac Pro system which will have a Int Pro card. I’ve read through this forum but still have some questions and want to be sure this card is my best option.

I don not need the card to digitize. I will be pulling files from a Canon 5D or similar and transcoding to ProRes in FCP 7.

My main use for the card is monitoring in HD and SD at the same time.

I will the HDMI out to a plasma and a composite out to a Sony SD studio monitor.

What other features/benefits will the Int Pro card give me?

What codecs does it play back in realtime – ProRes only?

Is there a BM codec? Any reason to use that?

Any other issues I should know about?

    Thanks!

    Hi Sean,

The Intensity Pro card will not be suitable. It does not have simultaneous HD and SD output. You’re better off with the DeckLink Studio card instead.

The card will majority of the codecs supported by Final Cut Pro such as DVCPRO HD, ProRes, IMX, XDCAM, Uncompressed etc.

We don’t expose a BMD codec in FCP as we use the ones provided by Apple but if you use After Effects, you’ll see our Uncompressed codec as an option. That’s because we do chroma filtering in our codec when you render so you get a much nicer image.
