I have been an avid Intensity Pro user since it was $350, so quite a while…

I recently upgraded my PC to have these specs:
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
    Two 1.5 TB HDD’s
    AMD Phenom x6 (six-core) 1055T Processor
    8 GB RAM

So, obviously my PC can handle recording. When I use Windows and try to record, my computer essentially freezes and I have to do a force restart. Now, when I boot into Linux (Lucid Ubuntu) I can record with no problems at all, so any insight into this from you guys?

Well the big difference here is your OS.
This is why OSX or Linux are your best friends
I NEVER had any driver problems with any Decklink product in OSX

I suppose you are using Media Express?

Is it freezing on every format? If you are in Media Express’s Capture mode and leave it in input mode without hitting record, does the system freeze?

Have you tried changing the capture location to another drive?

How long into the capture before it freezes?

    regards

It can record perfectly fine through Linux, so it is not a hardware issue.

The computer freezes from simply using the card on Windows, as in any possible method I use to make the card display video causes it to freeze. I have tried anything from displaying in 1080i to 720p to 480i, it will always display for a few minutes and then my computer will begin to freeze. Then if I close out of the application that is calling on the card, my computer will blue screen.

I have tried using Media Express, Adobe FME 2 & 3, Ustream Producer, Adobe Premiere’s recording, everything causes my computer to freeze.

I am beginning to think that it works on Linux, because Black Magic Design seems to favor Max OSX, which is UNIX-based, so it was easy to make a clean port to Linux. Since Windows is DOS-based, it may be possible that when they ported to it something didn’t come over perfectly.

    Hello John,
I bought my first intensity Pro at 386,00Euro…

I’m reading your post, but I don’t see the version of drivers you are using. Are sure you’re using the last build?
BTW, on my setups (Intel Ci7, Asus P6T Deluxe V2, Win 7 pro 64bit) the Intensity Pro are working without any problems (I don’t use Media Express, but it seems to work too).

    Best Regards,

Perhaps it is my CPU? It is AMD, I know that I was unable to purchase the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle, because it can only run on Intel chips. Anyone out there with an AMD processor that has BMI working for them?

Yes mine is working perfectly on an AMD dual core system which is 4years old.

I am reinstalling Windows 7 on my PC and am going to see if I can find some updated drivers for my processor. It is relatively new, so maybe Microsoft doesn’t have built in drivers (that maximize the CPU) for their older Windows 7 discs.
