June 2, 2009 at 4:58 amthats normal. there is about 4 frames of offset between the canvas and your video out. if you don’t like it, complain to apple… and see how far that gets you. 🙁

June 5, 2009 at 5:39 amwhen using any I/O card, or even Dv device , you should monitor your audio from there and it will be in sync to the video out picture from the same place. its just how fcp works.

June 6, 2009 at 12:53 pmAs Steve has pointed out, this is perfectly normal … however, no need to “complain to apple” as suggested as they already include a specific control to compensate for such discrepancies:
Check in your Final Cut Pro menu > System Settings window, under the Playback Control tab, and there you will see a Frame Offset control with a default setting of 4 frames. Simply tweak this value for your particular setup .. you should be able to quickly discover the offset value which brings your Canvas and External Video device back into sync.
Cheers
Andy
