    I’m editing in a 1440 x 1080 25i timeline using a BM extra codec.

All Premiere Pro CS5.5 (and CS5) generated material, such as titles, bars and tone and black, require rendering (shoeing a red render bar)

Can anyone tell me whether this is to be expected because I am not editing with a native Adobe codec, or whether there is an issue with a setting.

I’m sure that I didn’t notice it on earlier BM drivers/codecs.

    Thanks in advance.

Apologies if a similar post also appears. Not sure what’s going on here!!

Okay, so I think I see what’s going on here.

Did you configure the setup by yourself or are you using a blackmagic preset?

For 1440x1080i i’m assuming your using some sort of compressed format, either HDV or AVCHD. In either case you want to select the 1920×1080 50i (25i is not a good way to label it). You can choose whichever codec you want from uncompressed to mjpeg.

The red bar may appear overhead depending on the source codec, ideally you’d like them to match but in some cases this is not possible.

    Sincerely,

    Thanks Joshua.

    You’ve raised another issue which I didn’t think existed…

So, to recap, you’re saying that, even though the source material is 1440x1080i, I should always edit it as full raster square pixels?

Maybe that’s why Blackmagic Intensity Pro doesn’t ship with any native HDV codecs!

I’ve still had no luck eradicating the red render bar. I know it affects diddlysquat really, but I’m fairly sure it’s a recent development when using Blackmagic codecs.
