Intel Mac Mini – Rosetta
Hi,
I read up on the couple of recent Mac Mini Intel posts and wondered if anyone had any more recent news?
Has anyone tried running FCP on an Intel Mac Mini? If so, what version, and what were your results?
I’m getting one of these as a media centre and currently use a PC for editing with Avid but would like to do some trials in FCP, so if the Intel Minis can run FCP it will be a bonus!
If it helps, I am getting the dual core, 100GB HDD and 2GB RAM.
I suspect the onboard graphics may upset things here?
Also, any news on when Apple plan to release their Universal update for FCP to run on the dualcore Intels?

FCP doesn’t work with Rosetta. You need to wait until the Universal version is released this month.

I picked up on that. But is the intel mini specced up enough to even run it when it is avaialable in universal?

FCP runs on my current Mini here at the shop. It’s fine for DV work but you don’t get a lot of RT. Though the CoreDuo chip is certainly faster that what I have in my machine so it may offer some more realtime. No FW800 port though so that would stop me from making it a primary editing workstation.
