insufficient material?
What am I doing/not doing to get ‘insufficient material to make edit’ when trying to apply a transition effect?
I would really appreciate it If anyone could recommend any FCP effects training that helped them …

For a transition to work there must be a little extra footage at the end of the clip you are transitioning from and also on the clip you are transitioning to.
I’ll bet a million dollars you are trying to add a transition onto a clip that does not have the extra room.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.

So when adding clips to the timeline from the viewer, you must include handles in order to apply transitions etc….?
Cant you just center a transition on the cut…?

I get that same error message sometimes, even though I am doing an insert edit and not an insert with transition. I can be annoying.
