    HI

Well I have tried and searched the forums for an answer but I guess I just didn’t go far enough, lack of patience today, so I apologize if this has been asked already, it most likely has.

I have a MacPro 2x 2.8quad core, and I have recently installed ram. I was told that it was better to install the same manufacturer type ram on the same riser, therefore I installed 2x 2GB(third Party) on riserA and 2x 1GB on riserB originals from Apple.

Is this the best set-up or should I be installing 3GB on each riser?

    Thanks
    GUY

It is my understanding that you should mirror each riser, so yes, I suggest 3GB on each.
Also, I would put your 2GB in slot A of each riser, then the 1GB in slot B.
Some may say to use the Apple RAM first, but I would use the larger RAM first.

Not sure technically why that makes a difference, but that’s what I’ve always heard and done.
    Maybe someone can explain why.

    Hi again,

Well after some digging I found what I needed, thanks for your response. Here is the link I found in the MacPro user manual for upgrading Ram.

    Thanks again

Do you have the Mac Pro’s user manual? Page 33 and 34 have little pictures explaining this. I always that out when doing RAM. I’ve done it many times, but I still use that little drawing, every time. I find it makes it much easier.

Yeh, I have a users manual but I was just unsure of the way they should be put in, the order if size was important or manufacturer and finally i found the answer.

    Thanks for the reply.
