installing Final Cut Studio with a disk image, not disks
Posted by Elise London on December 21, 2008 at 6:18 pmI need to install Final Cut and I have the disk image, which is about 3.9GB. The intall opens properly and seems to work, but then it prompts me to enter the next disk … obviously I don’t have any disks … just that original disk image. What do I do?

December 21, 2008 at 6:35 pmSounds like you have an incomplete disc image. What version of FCP is this? It’s been a long time Final Cut fit on one DVD disc.
All the best,

December 21, 2008 at 6:40 pmwow! thanks for the speedy reply.
You hit on a good point. Now I realize that in my final cut folder, I actually have two disk images. One is 3.86GB and one is 3.94GB. Does that form a complete disk image? If so, how do I use them in tandem without disks to install Final Cut? -

December 21, 2008 at 6:48 pmWe ask questions for specific reasons. Once again what version of FCP is this? Please be exact. All disc images must be mounted. It does not sound like you have a complete install set.
All the best,
Tom

December 21, 2008 at 7:53 pmFCP6 is part of Final Cut Studio 2. The whole installation I believe requires five discs, or is it six?

December 22, 2008 at 1:06 pmFinal Cut 6 (Studio 2) is a total of 9 disks with all the content and media for Live Type & Sound Tracks Pro and approximately 52GB in total size.
You do not the complete set of imaged disks.
FCP6 alone is 1 image and 3.48GB in size, so when you do the install you choose just to install FCP6 and not Live Type, Sound Track, Motion or anything else you should be fine.
