  • Installing FCS and Logic on MacBook Pro – Questions

For those of you with experience of loading several major applications on a computer, I have this to ask.

I am loading up my MacBook Pro for travel and putting Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Studio on the same disk. Both apps load Soundtrack Pro and use GarageBand Jam Packs.

Does anyone have suggestions for getting the appropriate pieces of software loaded. IE: I could load the complete FCS2 and just not load STP2 when loading Logic ( I suppose). What about using Logic Studio’s Jam Packs in GarageBand (as well?)

I will repost this in the Logic area as well, just in case,

    Thanks

Well, of course no need to reinstall STP (it’s the same version) and just check your HD space to determine how many loops and samples you really want to load up. I’ve had no problems with having the full installs of both FCS and Logic, with the full sample library, on my MacBook Pro.

If you’re worried about space issues with the additional media, someone on the LUG list said:

“you can install them on your system drive
(space allowing) and then move them to where ever, delete old index files and re-index by
dragging folder(s) into browser from finder.”

But I have not tried that yet. Since Logic instruments (EXS, etc) load up all the samples in RAM before you can play them, a small firewire drive is probably the way to go for storing that library at some point.

    Cheers,
    S
