  • Installing FCP 7 on a brandnew Macbook Pro

Posted by Alexander Wolf on November 3, 2013 at 12:07 pm

I just bought the new Macbook Pro incl Mavericks. I have FCP X, Compressor installed but would like to install FCP 7 as well since I have only recently started to learn FCP X.
How can I go about this? I guess it’s not a good idea to try to install FCP 7 on the same partition.

Ideally, I would like to use a USB 3.0 drive as a boot disk, install Mavericks and FCP 7 and not have to mess with separate paritions on my new MB Pro. Is that possible at all?

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Alexander,

I wouln’t do it. We still work with Snow Leopard and FCP7. You can work with Lion, perhaps with Mountain Lion but Mavericks? FCP is an old program, still very good, but there is no support for it any longer. To me as a cutter reliability and stability of a editing system is a crucial factor. I doubt that you will get these parameters for FCP7 and Mavericks,

    cheers

    Rainer
