  • installing Avid codec with AE CS3

I am trying to get my Intel Mac version of AE CS3 to recognize the avid codec but I am having no luck. We had it working just fine on AE7 but since then we have gotten new machines and new after effects.

Could someone hold my hand as I go through this again?

What is the link to avid to get the proper avid codec?
What is the path on the Mac where I should put the codec?

Thank you so much for helping me out. I don’t know why this is not working. Lets just start from the beginning.

if ae7 on the same machine can use the avid codecs, then the problem is most liekly that you don’t have intel-mac avid codecs. ae cs3 will probably recognize the ppc versions of the avid codecs if you force it to run under ppc emulation (rosetta).

you’ll probably also notice that other universal binary apps, like quick time, don’t recognize the ppc codecs either (unless you run them under rosetta).

hopefully avid has universal binary version of their codecs by now, just download and install those, and everything shoudl be ok. i think i would also remove the old versions.
