it’s probably some thirdparty stuff that got installed as part of a nle or capture-card software bundle.

try unistalling anything like that. if you don’t have the uninstallers for that software, uninstall ae, then reinstall. that way you’ll be pretty sure that there aren’t any thirdparty items screwing with ae.

I Have the same problem, just installed AE CS4 from the production premium bundle, and now EVERY time I start the program, a small progress bar pops up saying “installing additional file formats and effects”, then fails, everytime!

Now, all the 3rd party plugins (Keylight, CC, Color Finesse) are missing, it must be trying to install those!

I’m also having this problem with AE CS5 from the production suite. when I start AE it wants to install effects, then it wants to restart so the effects are available but on restart it tries to reinstall the plug-ins again.

    Windows 7
    i5 650
    4gb ram
    radeon X1900

This isn’t really the PC I use to work with AE but I like to be able to open AE and make changes should I need to.

No 3rd party plugins have been installed as far as I know.

Is the only fix for this to reinstall AE?
