  • Installing 32 bit filters into 64 bit Movie Studio

Posted by Rick Hughes on October 22, 2013 at 5:32 pm

I have 64bit Sony Movie Studio install
I wish to install the filters for Virtual Dub that have been rewritten for Vegas

    https://www.mikecrash.com/index.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=6

Presumably these are 32 bit filters.

The filter pack installer creates a folder “Filters” in following location:

    C:Program Files (x86)SonyFilters

There are some files in this (x86)folder but the main program and and it’s sub-folders are installed in :
    C:Program FilesSonyMovie Studio Platinum 12.0

both these locations are default creations by Sony installer package.

There is no ‘Filters folder’, tried dropping the folder into C:Program FilesSonyMovie Studio Platinum 12.0 – no joy
Tried dropping individual filter.dll into various folders – no joy

Noticed that 3rd party filter packs are in separate locations …i.e
C:Program FilesNewBlueVideoFX for Sony Vegas MSPPS

Assume there are then pointers to tell Vegas what to load.

Can I manually move the filters form this filter pack to where they need to go ? …. anybody know how to do this, or is there a feature to import filters one at a time ?

    Thnx..
I’ll contact author, see if he had any plans for updatingto 64bit.
Guess it’s back to AviSynth to use these filters.

An option is the SCS suggestion in the MSP 12 release notes.
You can share projects between 32- and 64-bit versions of Movie Studio installations, performing editing as needed in 32-bit Movie Studio and finishing the project in 64-bit Movie Studio.

Jorma, Too much of an overkill having both 32bit and 64bit versions
installed and running just for that.
