  • Installed Resolve, Now Premier Crashes

This afternoon I installed Resolve on my MacPro. I don’t presently have a CUDA card installed nor a Blackmagic card. I was just interested in looking at the interface, trying to load a project and playing around with it.

I opened Resovle a couple times and looked at it. I then closed it and left the computer room. This evening I opened Premier Pro to work on a project and it immediately crashed. I tried opening Premier about a dozen times. different projects, but it just crashes.

I opened other programs, After Effects, Encore, an older version of Final Cut now with the Blackmagic Easy Setups listed from the Resolve install, and they ran with no problem.

I feel it is probably some driver conflict, maybe a Blackmagic or CUDA driver. Perhaps the Blackmagic or CUDA options were installed on Premier but cause a conflict without either type of card installed?

I uninstalled Resolve but that did no good.

So there were numerous things installed today under the applications folder that have to do with the Resolve install, Blackmagic and CUDA and many other installs. I don’t think it would be a good idea to just start trashing these.

Maybe I should just use the time machine and go back to before today’s Resolve install. I suppose time machine works. I have never used it before.

    I have a MacPro 5.1 OSX 10.6.8

I do have a Matro MXO installed on this machine and am going to remove it to see if that has any effect.

    Any ideas.

    Thanks,
    Bob

After uninstalling everything related to Blackmagic, I now have a functioning Premiere Pro. Good, I can work on my projects.

However I would like to be able to install Resolve and use that program.

I have the Adobe Production Production Suite CS5 however it was not up to date. Yesterday when PP crashed I was running PP 5.0.1. Now all of the suite are up to date. PP is 5.0.8.

Is anyone running Resolve with Premiere CS5 or is it necessary to update to CS5.5? Could the fact that I have no Blackmagic card installed and Resolve installed the BM drivers have been the cause of the Premiere crash.

On the other hand, I am not committed to Premiere. I had been using Final Cut with After Effects so I though I would try the Adobe Suite. Maybe Avid has the most stable software and files that work with other software?

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Bob
