Install single program?
Posted by Steve Slocomb on January 28, 2006 at 4:30 pmI just received the Adobe Production Studio Premium upgrade package. I want to install all the programs except PremPro2.0 as my system has a Matrox RTX100 card and the needed software from Matrox won’t be out for a while. I can’t seem to open the individual programs folders and install the programs that way. Any thoughts?

I am in the same situation – waiting for rtx100 support. But I went ahead an installed the whole studio anyway. Don’t seem to have any problems with PPRO 2.0 and 1.5 (with matrox drivers) being on the same system. At least, haven’t had any issues just so far. But are fully functional, but of course, 2.0 can not utilize the rtx.

January 29, 2006 at 6:03 pmI found that the install allows one to install just the programs one wants and not the whole package. I just can’t afford to put the new Premiere on the computer and “rock the boat” with so many large edit projects on it. Also I held off on After Effects right now because I may lose some of my plug-ins (like Puffin Image Lounge?)

The new versions are installed in new, distinct folders.
For instance, version 1.5 and all it’s plug-ins, presets, ect, are in
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Premiere Pro 1.5
and version 2 is in
D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0So you won’t loose anything from the 1.5 install.
I copied the plug-ins need from my 1.5 install to the plug-in folders of the 2.0 install without trouble – with the exception of the Rtx100 stuff. Those caused PPro2.0 to fail at start-up. Everything else has worked flawlessly so far.
Version 1.5 projects have imported into V2.0 without incident too.
But I understand your reluctance to mess about with an upgrade mid-project.
