Just bought my first Mac today and making the switch. Here’s a weird thing though. When doing the full FCP studio install, the “Livetype Media 1” disc appears to be unreadable. I unchecked Livetype media install and continued without a glitch, however I don’t get the Media files that come with livetype, obviously. These CD’s are straight out of the box, so no scratches are on it. It just doesn’t seem to wind up in the DVD player like all the others do.

Is this a weird thing anyone else has run into?

Other than that, this is a truly amazing machine. I’ve got the 2.7, 800 gigs internal, 8 gigs of Ram, and FCP studio. The software interface for FCP feels incredibly advanced over Avid, but time will tell if I love it.

    Thanks!

You probably just got a bad disk. Call Apple Support and they will most likely ship you out a new disk.
