  • Install plugs into CS 3?

    Hey guys

So of course we’re running AE CS 3 on a handful of our macs. Recently we got in a monster octo with 32 gigs of ram, and I don’t see a point in running AE on the windows side due to stability issues.

My question is, in OSX, can you install, say, Knoll Light factory or the Trapcode suite into the CS 3 beta? I can’t seem to get it to work.

    THANKS!

I believe if you open AE with Rosetta (Right click – Open with:) it’ll be able to use non – UB plugs. However it will run under the same constraints that AE7 has on an Intel Mac, mainly the 3GB max RAM issue. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve read about it on a couple forums. It’s worth a try.

I’ve seen posts at BAREFEATs where AE CS3 is using 15+ gigs of ram.

Thats why I’m trying to figure out if I can run the Trapcode suite and Knoll, even though I’ll be missing the CC Suite, I only use a handful of those plugs.

I want to go native UB and out of Windows because bootcamp is still not 100%. Apple is wasting their time on iPhones. Sorry, had to throw a frustration stab in.

This has been discussed many, many times.
You need Universal Binary versions of the plug-ins.
Some are available right now, like Zaxwerks and RE:Vision stuff. Othes, like Trapcode/RedGiant, announced Intel Mac-ready versions for when CS3 ships.
