I’m having some trouble inserting more space in to the middle of the timeline, mid-project. I had one clip that I deleted and wanted to replace with a longer clip, but in doing so it seems I’ll mess up the whole of the remaining timeline. Is there a way to just shift it all a few seconds down to make room?

After you delete the unwanted clip, enable “Auto Ripple” (it should be a tool bar icon), make sure the drop-down menu next to it is set to “All Tracks, Markers & Regions” and drop the new clip in its place.
Everything will automatically slide to the right to make room for the new clip.
You may need to close a gap by dragging the shifted footage back to the left.
Remember to disable Auto Ripple after doing this.

Thanks, but it doesn’t seem to have worked, it just fills the gap and then crosses over on to the other clips like it did before.

My bad I did the dropdown but didn’t click the actual icon to turn it on.

    Thanks mate.

    Keelan,

A short cut for clicking on and off is Ctrl+L
