  • Insert mattes and title into timeline

Probably being really stupid but have done some titles using a colour matte as a background but am unable to insert edit this into timeline – it just overwrites. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Also same with titles when I try to insert a title at the beginning of my timeline it just overwrites not inserts?

Just to be sure I understand – these are intended to be full screen elements, correct?

Are you dragging from the bin straight to the timeline, or going through the preview monitor? Preview gives you the option of insert or overwrite using the period and comma keys, if you have the default keyboard mapping.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.

Yes these are meant to be full screen elements but it doesn’t let me open the matte in the preview window to do the insert edit. Have now managed to do one of them pressing command (on Mac) and dragging into timeline but not the other one frustratingly!
