Has anyone been successful at editing back onto the PDW-F1600 desk from either Media Composer Adrenalin or Symphony NItris?

I setup some test projects, was able to import 50Mb/s XDCam HD 4:2:2 material using either AMA or import methods. Have built a short sequence using this material which I can edit to tape, but I can not get Digital Cut to edit back on to the disc, even though that is supposedly a feature of it. Of course, there is no template for this deck, but using a generic template it locates the in point on disk at which point Symphony plays the material out without rolling the deck. At the end it tells me it was not able to locate the in point on deck…

Doing a simple test of machine/machine editing using the PDW-F1600 as a source deck works fine. It is able to locate and play to an edit deck as a source during insert editing mode. (Kind of the reverse of what I am trying to do, but just testing its ability to locate and play in sync.)

    Followup – success!

    OK, here’s what I have learned….

1.MUST use a second gen disk (Not the PFD23, but the PFD23″A” disk which says “2.4x” on it). I presume the 50GB disks will work but I don’t have any to test.

2.The deck, for some strange reason, will not accept less than a 3 sec. preroll from Digital Cut.

You can also use “export to device-XDCAM” from the output menu to export the timeline directly to the XDCAM disc as a file transfer. The 23gig discs will give you a bitrate choice but the 50gig will only allow 50mb 4:2:2.
