I am running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit with 4 gigs of ram and get this message when i try to install vegas pro 11. “ERROR: 1603 occured during installation
Could not create key: .oggvegasllO_oggShellNew. Verify that you have sufficient access
to that key, or contact your support personnel.”

I have created a new account and made it the administrator like sony technical support said to no avail. Can anyone offer any assistance here? I am so tempted to head back to premier pro.

No need to head back to Premiere,
Did you right click the installer and select Run as administrator?

Also delete all folders pertaining to vegas in the programms
directory and in all other locations, re-download the latest
64bit build (683) and try again.

Still, looking at that error message you got, tells there is
some sort of conflict with the .ogg audio format you have on
your system from probably a particular software, hard to be sure.

I did everything under the sun to get this installed and the software just gives me the error. It installs on my windows 8 beta machine but not on this one.

    hi,
this won’t resolve your problem but might shed some light….

in Search programs and files … type Regedit

when that comes up… type control+f .ogg
what’s under that tree? it should list what software you have that already rns .ogg (in my case audition and vegas).

Right click .ogg … permissions. Who does it think owns the key?

    Most odd

I tried, nothing came up. I can;t believe that there can ever be a situation where a company ask you to download their software and for some god damn reason it does not load. I knew this would happen the moment we were told to start using windows PC. God is this a giant waste of my time.

Additionally, you can also try cleaning your registry.

Error 1603 means that you’ve used the automated online registration too many times. Call CUSTOMER support (not Tech Support) and they can usually reset it for you.
