Input media is 1280×720, rendered project should be 400×300 – how??
I can’t figure out how to do this. I have a video which is 1280×720. I would like to make a project which must be 400×300. So, the initial video must be cropped and that’s ok, I’d like to crop the left and right side, symmetrically.
1st way – doesn’t work:
I created a project in Vegas 400×300 and inserted the video. But the video is automatically shrinked to fit into the 400×300 area, leaving black at top and bottom, which is bad. I want it to be original size and just cropped from left and right. Clicking on Pan and Crop is of no use, because it always keeps the 1280×720 aspect ratio, and the black on top and bottom, even if it’s resized.
2nd way – kind of works but completely messes other layers:
As a second try, I created a 1280×720 project. Then rendered the only one video track as 400×300 – works perfect and looks good. But actually, I wanted to add some more video tracks… like e.g. a title. So, I positioned the title (NewBlue)over the video in a specific place. When viewed in the Preview window, it’s at this place. But when rendered the two tracks together as 400×300, it’s not at the right place anymore. And so are other layers. It looks like Vegas is first cropping the track to 400×300 and then positioning the title according to top left corner. I want Vegas to do the opposite, to calculate everything in relation to 1280×720 (as is in the Preview window) and then, finally, just crop the rendered video, without recalculating positioning. Is it possible?
