    Hi all,

is there a way to achieve an inner shadow in an extruded object (for instance, in a text) like in the example shown of the Guardians of the Galaxy title below?

I marked it with the red arrows in the original (above), and below is my best attempt, but for some reason I am not able to achieve the same effect. I have tried with different fillet cap sizes, diferent depths, playing around with lights and material settings, and there is no way to get it.

I know in Photoshop there is an “Inner Glow” option that lets you add this kind of shadow if you set its colour to black, so I was wondering if there was a similar option in Cinema 4D.

    Thank you all in advance.

it looks like the titles are actual 3D not something similar to a PS 2D trick.

This is a simple try at it.

You can also turn on ambient occlusion and that will create darkness where two planes of geometry join.

Its a self shading problem, but it might also be the size (detail) of your shadow map. If the shadow map is too small it will be so soft in those small crevices it will hardly show. You could also make the non-cap geometry a separate object which would eliminate a possible self shadowing problem.
