Ink-like splatter in Teen Choise Awards

Im just curious on how they created the ink-like splatter effect – the usual background they used in the video. (the one im talking about is the “ink-splatter effect” which acted as the transition for date movie awards and the one that appeared in the background when the “choice single” awards, represented by a turntable, appeared. Can trapcode particular be used in this kind of effect? Im new in using particular and I couldnt seem to duplicate the said effect. What is the best setting in particular to somehow replicate this effect? Could someone help me? Your assistance is highly appreciated.

i havent seen it but the best way to do ink splats is to film them and then fine tune them

I had some fun this weekend filming some white paint splattering on a black board.
Then import it into after effects and apply the ‘Set Matte” effect.. Then experiement with colors and placement..
too fun.
