I made a table, as you see in picture 1, and I want to ‘place’ a general text document to it (using .docs or .txt). When I click in the cell and choose ‘place’ the text takes over the entire table and doesn’t keep the formatting of the table, as you see in picture 2. It just has a text frame w/ the little red box in the bottom right corner – the table is gone?

An additional note, when I click in a cell and add text myself to one of the cells, the cells expand normally as they should.

Why can’t I place text in one of those cells and keep the formatting of my table?

    help, help, help.

    Thanks.

    Zak

You need to make a change in your preferences:

Go to “edit”, “preferences”, clipboard handling”, and click in the box that says, “all information”

Your .doc or .rtf will then import correctly with its formatting.
