  • InDesign CC 2017: all exported PDF’s come out damaged or not a supported file type

I’m using InDesign CC 2017. I’lI export a document as a PDF, try to open it, and I’ll get this error message:

“Adobe Acrobat could not open “file name” because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded). To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF.”

There are other weird things I’ve noticed about this:

    – Sometimes, if I click “Ok” on the error message, the PDF will suddenly open correctly
    – I can open the file by having Adobe Acrobat open, going to file > open, and selecting my file
    – This just started happening suddenly. I have no idea what happened to make this suddenly start happening

Is this a known bug or something? What could have caused this, and how do I fix it?

    Thank you!!!
