  InDesign 4 creating typos

  I am working with a 400-page doc in InDesign 4 on a MacBook Pro (new). I am seeing InDesign change the words that I type IN the document as something else. Any help would be appreciated. I need to get this out and have NO idea what is happening. Puts typos in PDFs too.
