incorrect frame rate hammers resolution
Hey everybody,
We’ve been working with Final Cut for a long time and this has always been a problem. We will have a 23.98 sequence and be working with 23.98 footage normally with no problems. However, when we begin to add our graphics from After Effects exported out at 23.98 we start to see our resolution get soft. We discovered that the after effects movie needs to be rendered out at 23.976 to seamlessly drop into the 23.98 timeline, but it still brings up the all important question: why does Final Cut soften images of one frame rate dropped into a sequence at another frame rate? It’s not a render issue and our playback settings are set to high. Are we missing a conversion plugin such as the one described in this Kenstone article (https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/dvcpro_hd_workflow_balis.html)
or is there something else? This is a really big problem when we don’t have render control over framerate, like when we are working with 23.98 footage in a 29.97 or even 30p sequence. Help!_________
I make movies, not a living.
