Including markers when nesting
Is there a way to include the markers form the original .veg into the nested .veg?

The original markers from the nested file will be displayed as media markers in the new project. You can not change these markers on the timeline, but when you open the nested file in the trimmer (right click on the event and select OPEN IN TRIMMER) you can edit the markers.
