Im trying to capture footage from my Canon XM2 into Premiere Pro via firewire cable. There is no recognition of the camera in the capture window and ‘Capture Device Offline’ at the top.

From my online research this problem seems a common one. On the adobe forums someone suggested that the problem may be in changing the setting of the IEEE1394 controller to ‘Legacy’. It sounded legitimate but i didnt get that option when i tried the change it.

Any input would be much appreciated. My hunch is that the problem is in the use of the firewire cable itself and that perhaps pursuing use of a DV cable would be the easiest way to side-step the problem entirely?

If anyone wants to clear up what seems to be a lot of ambiguity about this problem im sure i wouldnt be the only one to benefit form it.
