In theaters December 2008?
Posted by Timothy J. allen on December 19, 2008 at 8:16 pmWatching a new film in a theater on Christmas Day is a tradition for me and my family.
So… are there any films in theaters now that I should watch over the holidays that really stand out for editing?

The latest Charlie Kaufman flick (first time directing) looks good too, but not really holidayish.

December 23, 2008 at 4:42 pmBenjamin Button does look good – most of Fincher’s movies are good ones.
I cannot understand Valkyrie opening on Christmas Day. Looks like a good movie and may improve Tom Cruise’s public image, but a movie about Nazis on Christmas seems a bit risky. Interestingly, the German film community were initially opposed to allow filming at historic locations, possibly due to Cruise and his religious views. But they eventually were permitted, and in fact had to re-shoot the execution scene due to a film lab error. They should have shot digital!

Well, if you don’t celebrate Christmas and eveything else is shut down, why not go see a historicaly based movie that outlines a resistance from the inside?
There’s also The Wrestler. I can’t believe I forgot to mention it. I feel some double feature activities going on during the break.

Also, Gran Turino looks to be kind of interesting as well:

And I still haven’t seen Quantum of Solace.
