I’m in the market to buy a dv deck. I run final cut pro.

I have experience using a Sony dsr-11 and have had great success with it, but it is unforunately out of my price range to buy for myself. Can anyone make a suggestion for a good dv deck (minidv only would be fine) that is reliable and under 500 bucks. Does such a thing exist?

    Thanks!

If you want to run with the big dogs, you gotta pay to play. DSR-11 is the minimum you should have as a pro. Sorry for the reality check, bro.

In the mean time, use a cheap camcorder. I like the panny’s.

Get a sony GV-D300 or 900 (with screen) off ebay. They are small and portable and should be available used for your price range. Sony also has a newer DHR-1000 too. These units have rca audio i/o and composite, s-vhs analog video i/o and digital firewire i/o. (same as dsr-11)

I’ll second Kevin, DSR-11 is the only real reliable deck out there. I would not run an edit suite with any other DV deck.
