“In” shortcut won’t work in Final Cut Express 4

What language software are you using? What language is the keyboard? Is it a QWERTY keyboard?

What key are you pressing and where on the keyboard is it located?

Hi Tom,

Yes, it is a QWERTY keyboard. My software is in English. I am using a wireless keyboard. The language set up on it is French (I’m in Quebec), which shouldn’t affect the letter “i” which is the shortcut I’ve always used on FCP to mark in on the viewer. The letter “i” is located on the third row, 6th key from the left of my keyboard. It is not the only shortcut that doesn’t work… On the timeline, the shortcut “a” to get my curser and the letter “b” to get the blade don’t work either.

This is my first edit on this new imac (and new keyboard), I’ve never experienced a problem where certain shortcuts don’t work before, all the shortcuts are listed in the button list too.

I have 7 files in one bin…

On the English keyboard I is the eighth key from the left. A is the middle row, first key on the left; B is the bottom row, fifth key from the left.

This may help, from Piero Forani:

– Open the Language & Text panel of System Preferences
– click the Language tab
– drag “English” to the top of the list (on top of your current language)
– drag back your current language to the top of the list
– close System Preferences
– (close if necessary and) open FCE: shortcuts should be fixed.
This seems to work till the next system startup; then you have to repeat this procedure…
