Thanks guys for ur tips. However thats what we do here too. But it takes too much time to compress the video. I use compressor on right click of the sequence i want to send to protools. And set it to dv pal, 25 frames, video quality least. But it still take 30 min to compress. So my question is, is there a better and faster way of compressing my video of my timeline to quicktime for ref. And pls tell me how to do it step by step.

I also did try, export – compress using quicktime. Setting to dv pal, least quality, 25 frames. That took me 12 mins. But protools can open it and view it. However, the vo monitor cannot view it. Dunno y.

So if there is anyway of compressing it to quicktime such that vo monitor can view it that will be great. Pls do tell me the steps. One by one pls very new to this FCP stuff. THanks guys…

are you using the mojo to route video to the vo booth?
if so you might want to try using the Avid DV codec … you might find that one more compatible
export – compress using quicktime, setting to Avid DV pal, least quality, 25 frames etc

you can get the Avid DV codec as part of the free Avid package available on their website

    hope it helps

go to http://www.avid.com and follow the links to Avid FreeDV for MacOS X … i believe you have to register to download it, then install it …

if you wan’t send me an email to andymees@startv.com and i’ll send you just the codec
(which you can put into YourHardDisk/Library/Quicktime)

    cheers
