In over my head – Final Cut Express
So, I volunteered to edit some video of my son’s recent concert. I am used to working with iMovie but have a version of final cut express on my computer. Anyways… the person who shot the video was a pro videographer and none of the files would transfer over to iMovie. I tried rolling them into FCE but of course, I have to “convert them” first. Problem is, I don’t know what that means. I think I need to convert MXF into .Mp4. Anyone willing to help a beginner out???

What camera did the videographer use? MXF…that can be either P2 or XDCAM…neither of which is supported by Final Cut Express. Nor is MP4…that isn’t an editing codec.
Mainly we need to know what camera was used in this shoot.

You can probably convert whatever it is, using the free downloadable app called mpeg streamclip. Use that to batch convert to DV format, then edit normally.
