  • In DVD Architect can you set up a menu in it when the source file doesn’t have chapter points set in it?

I have a file that I (for a variety of reasons) didn’t render out in Vegas, and I want to add a menu to it using DVD Architect. I have 6.0.

They don’t have to be at any particular scene break, maybe just 10 points spread out evenly.

I’m at work and can’t try it, I did a quick google, but everything I found so far assumes I created it in Vegas with chapter points already set.

    Thank you

I can’t see anything that would phase me there. The thing you’re missing out on is that it hasn’t had a Render for DVD from Vegas that gives you more control on creating a smaller and a bitrate to suit capacity/size.

What Format is the file you’ve been given?

I rendered out a .264 file through Avisynth.

I’ve not done that, I’ve always prepared in Vegas. The quality will be the thing that will finally decide if you’re happy.

But getting back to your original enquiry, I quickly tested a non-Vegas prepared file, no Chapter Marks and just dragged it into the DVDA Workspace. I added 14 Chapter Markers on the DVDA Timeline; added Scene Selection; added a sub menu and dragged ALL the 14 “Scenes/Chapters” from the folder navigator directly onto the Submenu. Done!

Rendering/Prepare was a cinch. Burnt to a RW-DVD and played it. Used the Scene Selection thumbnails and it all worked fine.

So yes, it is very possible to do what you asked. As a secondary reply, I’m not sure what your quality will look like after you’ve rendered it. The Render being MPEG2.

    Thank you very much!

You added; “I added 14 Chapter Markers on the DVDA Timeline; added Scene Selection; added a sub menu and dragged ALL the 14 “Scenes/Chapters” from the folder navigator directly onto the Submenu. Done!”

I’ve never done any of those processes, but I’ll take a stab at it soon. If it’s something I can’t figure out for myself, I’ll get back with you here.

    Thank you very much again!
