    Greetings Cow Members!

I wanted to hear your approach to multicam editing and see if anyone has any better ways of doing this.

I have a client that shoots on an HVX with p2 cards. They usually shoot with 3 cameras (not calaibrated, no timecode sync, no clap board etc.).

Well, since their ops like to hit the stop button all the time, This adds a whole other fun element to multicam editing. So each camera operator will have different points that I need to randomly sync up with no clap board or anything. I do this manually, and it’s a pain in the butt.

Anyone have any better ideas? I’ve heard of people putting all the camera clips together and generating new clips and inserting slugs in between, to keep them all the same length, but I’ve never tried it.

I have no control over what happens during production. So there’s nothing I can say to get them to shoot it properly in the first place. I’m looking for a fast way to deal with this.

So again, in the tape world, I’d have 3 reels I’m working with, and I’d sync them and then switch everything. In this case, I may wind up with 16 clips spread across three cameras, each clip with different lengths.

What’s the best way to deal with this?

    Rebecca,

I found out about Pluraleyes from Mark about a week ago, and I gotta say, it’s one of those apps that not only works as advertised, and does the job in mere seconds, but even better, it uses the computer to do a job flawlessly that even the very best highly-trained humans cannot even come close to doing as precisely no matter how much time they are given to do the task. Needless to say, I quite like it.
