Importing/Capturing from dvd
Hi
I’m trying to re-edit some footage that I currently have on dvd. I’m making a showreel of past work and need to extarct the footage from various discs. I was wondering what the best way of doing this is. Do I need to convert the footage back into an .avi file? If so, what is the best program to use for this? Is there anyway of importing the footage directly into premiere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Premiere Elements 2.0 can do this, but no other version of Premiere can.
Unless that’s what you happen to be using (and in some cases, even if you are), you’re best off ripping the DVD files to the hard drive. There are programs out there that will do this for you automatically (see VideoHelp.com for suggestions), or you could just copy over the .VOB files and rename them to .MPG. Either way, you’ll still be best off if you also convert them to an AVI file.
