Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Importing

This is sorta a newbie question. I’ve always done this the long way and never knew if there was a quicker way to do it. I was wondering if there was a way to import ai layers from within an ai project to after effects where they get imported all at once and in a grouped folder such as if you were to import a ps file with “composition” selected, every layer gets imported as a grouped folder. For some reason ai doesn’t do the same???

Thanks, all responses very much appreciated.

When I import ai files, either through File>Import or by Drag-and-Drop I get the choice to Import as Footage or as a Composition (layer size or cropped). Look for drop-downs to give you these choices.

… but you have to make sure that the AI layers are actually layers and not sub-layers or whatever. This has to be done in AI — check the help there.
