We demo’ed an XDCam HD a few months ago and decided to get one. During the demo, I had downloaded the import utility from Sony, installed it and was able to import from the deck without any problems. Everything worked just fine.

Now that we have the camera and deck, for some reason (brain fart?) I can’t seem to get the deck to talk properly to FCP. I’m using the FAM mode on the deck, but FCP doesn’t seem to “see” anything from the deck as far as importing files. Using the deck in the A/V mode, I can see down converted video from the deck but I don’t have any control of it.

Can someone point me to a work flow solution that I can set up tomorrow? I’ve been shooting & editing on several projects for 10 days straight now, and I’m pretty much fried. 15 hour days in most cases.I’ve searched the archives and found a lot of XDCam links, but not the one I’m looking for. I’m going to get some sleep now. Maybe the old brain-pan will be working better tomorrow…
Cranial assistance would be welcome about now…ZZZZZZZzzzzzz…
    Thanks,
    Tom

    BTW, I’m running 5.1.4, Quad G5, Kona3 & AJA Io, 2xHuge 2TB RAID.

    regarding A/VC:
make sure you set the deck to “remote” (switch on the front)
if you want firewire deck control then make sure you set the REMOTE I/F to i.LINK in the menu pages

    regarding FAM:
when you plug in the deck to the Mac via firewire, do you see the message PC REMOTE on the deck’s LCD display? does the XDCAM disc mount on the desktop?

its not at all hard Tom, just as you remember! a bit of shut eye probably is all you need
theres a basic whitepaper on the correct workflow here:
