Importing web video
Hello, I was wondering if there is any way to import video from a website into final cut pro. My place of work wants me to edit down an existing video but they do not have access to it in any other form than what’s posted on their website. Thanks so much!

No. Where is the video hosted?

Depending on their site’s code you could possibly use download helper to extract the video.
Potential problem:
The size of the video is 640×360 or smaller and is in a non-edit friendly format.You can convert to PR422 but to Christopher’s point the quality is most likely going to be less than stellar.

Thanks so much for your responses.
So we did come across a flash (.swf) version of the video, but now my issue is that when I try to open it, it says it can’t open and brings me into LiveType. Can I even bring a flash video into FCP?
On another computer, it says I don’t have an application to open it and it brings me to the apple app store–is there an app I need?)

You’ll need to use an app that can read the flash file and convert it to a quicktime for editing.

I believe MPEG Streamclip can take an FLV and convert it to and edit codec.
As stated before the quality will be terrible though.

You can often right click a web file like that and save to local hard drive. Then use mpeg streamclip (free) on it to convert to an editable format. Try using clipconverter.cc to snag the video and save it locally ion a couple formats, it only costs you some time to try it.
