Importing .wav files into primere
I recently had my computer worked on and before that I had no problem. I rip audio off of cd’s using Audiocatalyst 2.1 and they are saved to a folder as a .wav file and I simply import them into Primere. When I try to do it now I am getting what sounds like loud static. As the songs are being ripped with Audiocatalyst I can hear them playing over my monitor speakers, so I assume everything is OK with my card. Could it be the settings in Primere or something else? It used to be so simple.

Hard to guess what might be wrong, but one possibility is that the new audio files are in MP3 or other compressed format that is not well handled by Premiere. Worth checking that your ripper is generating WAV files with suitable parameters for use in Premiere.
Another possibility is (if you are using a non-Pro Premiere) that Premiere has defaulted to less than full quality on audio rate conversions (CD rips tend to be at 44.1, whilst DV is at 32 or 48k). If this might apply to you, check in the audio settings and set best rate conversion. This does not apply to Premiere Pro, which conforms all the audio before you can start editing.

Well I ripped the music using Windows Media 9 and converted it to a MP3 and it worked. I made a MP3 with my other ripper and it still didn’t work. I don’t know what the problem is but at least I can get back to work.

MP3 is not an editing format due to the way the compression is implemented. Avoid using it in your editing projects. Use WAV.
