I have a client that videotaped a presentation on a new mini camcorder with a memory card. He downloaded the video to his MAC. When I told him I work on PC he converted the files to PC format on a removable hard drive. I am not able to import them into Avid Express Pro. I believe they were MOD files. Any suggestions?

I don’t think the fact that they used a Mac is a factor, but more likely that Avid just won’t import .MOD file types. Can you convert the .mod file to QuickTime? (or worst case, have the client do that?)

use streamclip to convert the .mod files. free and easy. Can go AVI or DV or QT or whatever. I drop in a MOD file. Trim it in streamclip to avoid conversion of useless snippets and export as DV then drag right into avid. Looks great edits with keyframes great.
