Importing video files
Hello everyone,
I have a problem after I import video files into AE. Once I drag them into the workspace and try to play them or move the scroll bar, the video is extremely choppy. I mean it goes for like two frames repeats itself goes back a little and then does the same thing over again.
Any suggestions as to how to correct this problem?

You would have to include some bits of information that might help like what size and frame rate and codecs you’re using in yor rcomp and from the sources. There are twenty or thirty million different possible combinations.
AE is not a playback engine. Almost nothing will play in realtime, it’;snot supposed to. The repetition is usually caused by a missing codec. Your source video was created using a codec you do not have on your machine.

Sorry, I guess giving the specs was an obvious thing.

Version: 7.0
Frame Rate: 29.97 fpsI’ve used AE before, but am not very familar with its intricacies. Where would I find codecs the rcomp is using?

Yeah, I think your hypothosis is correct because when I import files other than mpegs AE handles them fine.
Any suggestion (from anyone) as to how I can convert file formats without compressing (or very little compression) the original file?
