Importing video files to FCPX
Posted by Fernando Mateo jr on February 1, 2012 at 4:09 pmHey guys, just picked up a Sony a77 DSLR which has an AVCHD format that I can’t import to Final Cut Pro X. I’ve tried to do a bit of research on my own but I’d like to ask any pros out there if they have any suggestions.

February 1, 2012 at 5:28 pmLooks like you need an MTS to MOV converter. There are plenty on the market. Batch convert the files and then they should import directly into FCPX.

February 1, 2012 at 6:00 pmThanks guys, appreciate it. Info was very helpful but I think I got a bigger problem when the only program that even recognizes my camera is iPhoto 08. Any more gems?

February 1, 2012 at 6:45 pmYes on the left bar. When the camera is plugged in it comes up as A77 in devices. Other than that it doesn’t come up anywhere else to import.

February 1, 2012 at 7:08 pmIf iPhoto recognizes your movie files, then try importing them into iPhoto and then accessing them through the iPhoto browser inside FCPX.

Connect your sd card (not the camera) , via card reader, open FCPX and go to Import from camera.
Your videow should be there… i am doing this long time with all sony cameras (nex, A55, A65, A77). -
