You can copy the VOB files off the DVD and rename them to MPEG. Then download and use the VLC media player to export/extrac the audio into wav and then line up the clips.

June 18, 2009 at 6:23 pmYou are speaking with a novice, how do I file? Just to make it clear. I am trying to take video off a dvd that I made in a previous version of Premiere. I get an erroe message that says, files not supported.

June 18, 2009 at 7:02 pmHow do you actually do the renaming part? Can you walk me thry the steps? I cpoied the VOB file to the hard drive, but was not able to change it to an mpeg. How do I do that?

June 18, 2009 at 7:14 pmIf your in windows and can’t see the file extension (VOB/MPEG etc) you need to first show known file types.
Inside your folder go to tools… folder options. Then click the view tab. In advanced settings UNclick the “hide extensions for known file types”.
You should see your .VOB extension. The right click on your VOB file and click rename. Then in the box delete .VOB and replace with .MPG
if your on a mac,there’s no right click… you just click on it once and change .VOB to .MPG.
