so i have a vhs tape that im trying to import to final cut through my m10u. vhs to m10u via rca; m10u to computer via firewire. so i get sigal all the way to the final cut preview window, but when i hit capture now, the black box pops up empty, and at the bottom says waiting for timecode.
    so im a little confused

Set the control function to NON-CONTROLLABLE DEVICE.

That should work, but it would probably be better to just record the VHS to DV tape first, then capture the tape in the normal fashion.

You’ll have a more stable signal and you’ll have repeatable timecode.
