Importing vector graphic into After effects goes fuzzy :-(

The above links illustrates my problem but here goes…
My goal was to animate a clients vector logo so my process was to open the .eps file in illustrator, release its layers and import into After Effects. I made sure the illustrator file set up / configuration was set to HDTV 1080.
But when the file was imported into after effect i notice when i scaled up / expanded one of the letters the definition goes soft 🙁 Its as if the vector quality has been lost.
I am so confused as to why this may be happening and its important the imported .eps file retains its vector qualities in After Effects so i can expand elements without looking so / pixelated.
Any insights welcome 🙂
